Pakistan captain Misbah Ul Haq said that his batsmen have an answer for Herath this time on the tour of Sri Lanka starting on 17th June. Herath was the leading wicket taker when these two sides met last year as the left arm spinner took 23 wickets from 2 matches. But this time Misbah and his men are on a plan on how to defend or play him well. Pakistan batsmen struggled because he got good hold on the conditions and it is important to play him well to get better results in the series.
Last year in the Test match in Galle, Pakistan scored 451 but Herath took six wickets in the second innings on the last day that helped Sri Lanka win the match. It was great display by Herath as Pakistan tried to block thus lost wickets at regular intervals. Sri Lanka are very dangerous side in their own conditions and if you let Sri Lanka have a chance to win they will not let slip the chance of the winning the match like they did last year. Pakistan will be missing the service of Saeed Ajmal, the burden lies on the young spinner of Yasir Shah and Babar. They need to bowl well in tandem and put pressure on the Sri Lankan batsmen.
Pakistan batting has been cause of concern and the batting needs to click if they have to put pressure on the Sri Lankans. Pakistan needs to play Hearth much better. Sri Lanka are very good side. Pakistan has to play at their best.
Pakistan bowling needs to improve if they have to take 20 wickets. In the previous Test series against Bangladesh in the first Test match they were not able to take 20 wickets. He also said that it is important to play spin much better on this tour. Pakistan team lost both Tests last year.
Pakistan would do well if they play Hearth according to situation. Best thing about Hearth is his line and length, he does not allow the batsman to score runs freely and hence put pressure on the batsmen. In 2014 Hearth has taken 33 wickets in 4 matches which is brilliant by any standards. Pakistan batsmen are the second worst batting team against left arm spin.
