The former India skipper, Rahul Dravid, has commented on the yo-yo test which has become one of the parameters of being selected in the Indian cricket team.
Dravid revealed that they underwent the test during their time, and there was nothing new in this,
“We have done it in our time as well, there’s nothing new about it. They are setting certain benchmarks and directions and that is how the team wants to go. We are following that in the ‘A’ team as well because it is a reflection of what the national team wants and we are conscious of that fact,” said Dravid during an event.

In past few months, the yo-yo test has become mandatory for a player to get selected in the Indian cricket team. Though the fitness measures have been of utmost importance right from past two years, the first time when the reports of a player failing yo-yo test came out when Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina was unable to clear the fitness test in August.

Yuvraj was rested by the selectors during that period but did not make a comeback in the team for the following series, which cleared that he has to pass the test first before making it to the Indian team.
The all-rounder again underwent the test in the first half of October, and he has flunked again. Along with him, Suresh Raina and Washington Sundar had also failed to clear the test a few days back.
In surprising news, Vijay Shankar, the Tamil Nadu all-rounder cleared the test with flying colours, as he scored 18.1 in the test. He has put a strong case forward and can be selected in the Indian team if Hardik Pandya gets to rest in the upcoming matches.
