ToggleIndia captain Rohit Sharma has reacted to the schedule of the ICC World Cup 2023 being revealed by the governing authority on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. The tournament will begin on October 5 with defending champions England taking on New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
India, on the other hand, will play its first match on October 8 against Australia at Chennai and then the big-ticket match against Pakistan will be played on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in front of more than 1 lakh shouting fans.
India is attempting to win its third World Cup and second on home soil. All nine of the Indian team’s league games are slated to take place at various locations throughout the nation, including Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Lucknow, and Bengaluru.
Rohit Sharma expressed his thoughts on the upcoming World Cup, stating, “This World Cup is going to be very competitive as the game has become faster and teams are playing more positively than ever before. Following their encounter with Australia, the host nation will head to Delhi for a clash against Afghanistan on October 11.
Indian Team Schedule For The ICC World Cup 2023
Over the course of 46 days, the 45 league games and the three playoff games will be played in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune. There will be reserve days for the final, both semi-finals, and both.
The tournament’s six-day league games will get underway at 10:30 IST. All other contests are day-night affairs with kickoff at 2:00 IST.
On November 15 and 16, the semi-finals will take place in Mumbai and Kolkata. Ahmedabad will host the final of the tournament on November 11.
