After India’s defeat to Bangladesh in the second ODI, MS Dhoni has blamed his batsmen for not performing to their potential. Dhoni said that he was not happy with the way the Indian batsmen have performed and admitted that it was the lack of runs and not poor bowling that was the cause of India’s defeat.

It’s pretty simple to see what went wrong, our batting is the problem. We need to put runs on the board. There was constant pressure on the batsmen as we lost some quick wickets. That meant we could not post a good score to defend. I don’t think I would blame the bowlers for this particular game as we did not have enough runs on the board. We need to get partnerships, he said during the post-match presentation.

When asked about Bangladesh’s turnaround, Dhoni credited their bowlers for the success they achieved in the recent past. He said they are bowling well as a unit. You can’t rely on just one or two bowlers. That is what they are doing well. Even when they did not get a wicket they kept it very tight. They got a bit of reverse and their lines and lengths were also good.

Dhoni also insisted that India will play the third ODI freely without any pressure as he is not bothered about the score line when the series is lost. He is looking forward for the next game as it was the last game of the gruelling season for the Indian Cricket Team.

Dhoni concluded by saying we will come and enjoy, maybe play a bit more freely. We won’t think too much about the result. It doesn’t matter if we lose 2-1 or 3-0. It will be the last match of the season, it has been a long and hectic season, and we are looking forward to playing the next game.
