India, with massive 197 runs victory against New Zealand at Green Park Kanpur, gets ready to play the second Test of the three-match series at iconic Eden Gardens, which will be India’s 250th Test match at home.
Green Park hosted the 500th Test of India, so it is Eden Gardens’ turn to host another iconic moment of Indian Test cricket.
The CAB already organized a photo exhibition and will felicitate both India and New Zealand teams. The Sourav Ganguly lead CAB also planned to launch a bell like the Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Former World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev is invited to ring the bell to commence the match.

So, it is a big occasion for Eden Gardens and Indian team, but rain Gods may spoil everything as the monsoon rain is very frequent in Kolkata.
In autumn, rain often comes at any time in the day. The humidity is too high in Kolkata and the weather is very sultry.
Kolkata always receives rain throughout the rainy season to mid-autumn, so Eden Gardens ground will not be very slow and the conditions of the pitch may change within two days.
But a danger to the Test is afternoon and morning rains which will erode the time of the match, as a result, the match may be a drawn one.
CAB had a bad reputation in past, failing to host a T20I game against SA following just one hour of rain in the afternoon. But last year Sourav Ganguly changed the sewage system of ground. During the T20 World Cup match between India and Pakistan, Kolkata had seen rains throughout the days and evening, but authorities took initiative and covered the entire ground to save it from rain. The match started at 9 pm and it was won by India.
But it is a Test match, every season matters, if one or two season get spoiled due to rain then the match may end up to a draw.
