What Went Wrong For India In The 1st Test Of The Series?

So the first Test between India and England resulted in a draw. England always had an upper hand in the game while India in the final Innings had to battle it out to secure a draw.
After a long time, a Test match had been drawn in India. At the start of the series England were the underdog and India were coming on the back of a series win over the Kiwis and looked confident than ever before.
But the first Test didn’t turn out to be as expected for the hosts.
So what went wrong for India in the first test?
Finally, his streak of winning the toss was broken and that too in a very
important game.

Surely things would have been different had all the catches been taken.
3) Leaked a lot of runs :
The pitch was good for batting on first few days and hence runs were expected to be scored by England.
But surely if the bowlers would have been a bit consistent with line and length then England wouldn’t have reached the 537-run total.

leaked a lot of runs. Ashwin was the most expensive who gave away 167 runs.
Amit Mishra wasn’t very consistent and hence went for a lot of boundaries.
England scored those runs with a good run rate, going at more than 4
RPO at times.
Surely a lot of runs were leaked.
4) Batting with a low run rate:
Virat Kohli stated that India will always play positive and result
oriented cricket.
But if we look at this Test, England batted very conformably, while the Indian team wasn’t able to score as freely as England scored.
Even Virender Sehwag during his commentary constantly said that India played with a slow run-rate.
Surely, there was pressure of runs on the board, but if we want to played result oriented cricket,you will have to go with a better run rate.
to see that much grass on the pitch and that shouldn’t have been the
case.
