West Indies vs India 2019: Watch – Umpire Rules Mayank Agarwal Out Despite Minimal Appeal
Aug 31, 2019 at 4:22 PM
International Cricket Council umpire Richard Kettleborough gave Mayank Agarwal out even though the bowler Kemar Roach didn’t appeal. There was a day and night difference between the bat and the ball but the umpire gave the decision in favor of the hosts. Subsequently, Mayank Agarwal was flabbergasted at the decision and decided to review the decision after discussing with his captain Virat Kohli.
There was no spike in the ultra edge and the umpire had to reverse the decision. The umpiring standards have gone down in the recent past and the same has been palpable in the ongoing Ashes series. Meanwhile, the Indian opener scored a fine knock of 55 runs from 127 balls with the help of seven fours. The right-hander once again showed the right technique and brought his third Test fifty.
Another umpiring howler.
On the other hand, India ended the day’s play with 264-5 after West Indies captain Jason Holder won the toss and decided to bowl first. Indian skipper Virat Kohli top-scored with 76 runs. The talismanic batsman was able to hit the ground running and looked at his best.
Meanwhile, Jason Holder was the pick of the West Indies bowlers as the lanky pacer scalped three wickets. Furthermore, Rahkeem Cornwall has had a good debut thus far.
The off-spinner took one wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara and also grabbed two catches. The lanky all-rounder also became the heaviest cricketer of all time in Test cricket.
Hanuma Vihari is unbeaten on 42 runs whereas Rishabh Pant is playing on 27 runs. India will like to get to a par score. The visitors had won the first Test match by a gargantuan margin of 318 runs. India’s vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane roared back into form as he scored 183 runs in the Test match. Thus, he was awarded the Man of the Match.
