West Indies vs Pakistan 2017: Carlos and Kraigg Brathwaite Dropped From ODI Squad

The West Indies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite and batsman Kraigg Brathwaite have been dropped from the West Indies ODI squad for the series against Pakistan. Carlos led the team in the T20I series against Pakistan but did not get a chance in the ODI squad. On the other hand, Kraigg has been dropped following a 3-0 lost series loss against England where he just scored 61 runs at an average of 20.33.
On the other hand, Miguel Cummins and Chadwick Walton have made a comeback to the side.
“From [those who played] the series against England, Carlos Brathwaite has been left out. I thought the opportunity was there for Carlos to go away and work on a few aspects of his game, namely his fitness and bowling, and getting back to bowling how he wants to bowl. That’s why he’s been left out, and it’s just coincided that the IPL is there and we have no cricket after this IPL series and he hasn’t been part of the last Test series. So the selectors gave him the option of going to the IPL as well, which I think is a good thing. [He’ll] get to talk to guys like [Delhi Daredevils coach] Rahul Dravid, learn how to play spin, get plenty of practice, and work on his fitness and bowling,” said Stuart Law, the head coach of West Indies said.
The series is a chance for West Indies to improve their ranking on the points table as they have to be in top eight until September 1, or else they will lose out on a direct qualification for World Cup 2019 and will have to play qualifiers.
Recently, Pakistan defeated West Indies in the recent concluded four matches T20I series by 3-1 as the home side could win just a lone T20. A three-match Test series will follow the ODI series.
