What happens to Dhoni now after receiving eye injury against Zimbabwe? 1

In the series decider of a three-match T20I tournament against Zimbabwe, India won a thriller by three runs.

Zimbabwe had won the first match of the series but went down against India in the second T20I. In the final T20I at Harare Sports Club India, batting first, scored a below par total of 138 in 20 overs.

Zimbabwe was close to victory. In the final, over they needed to score 21 runs.  Timycen Maruma hit a six of the first delivery of Barinder Sran. The second delivery was a wide ball. The third delivery was a  full toss which was placed to the cover boundary. The second and the third balls were a dots. The fourth delivery was single. Then Elton Chugumbura was on the strike. On the fifth ball of the over Chigumbura hit a boundary through the third man. On the sixth ball, Zimbabwe needed to score four runs to win the match. But Elton Ghugumbura was caught at cover.

India got rid of a humiliation in the T20I series. India’s young brigade won both T20I and ODI series. Captain MS Dhoni praised Indian youngsters for the victory. He said that they got much-needed exposure in international cricket.

But in the series decider, there was a moment when Dhoni’s right eye was struck by a bail, when he was batting.

It was a very dangerous situation as in the history of cricket many cricketers’ career ended after suffering a severe eye injury.

Indian cricketer Saba Karim had suffered an injury off the bowling of Anil Kumble that ended his career. In the recent past former South African wicketkeeper Mark Boucher and England’s WT20 winning wicketkeeper Craig Kieswetter’s international career too come to an end after receiving severe eye injury.

However, Dhoni’s injury is not as severe as Boucher or Kieswetter.

He posted an image of his right eye on his facebook page. The eye has become red. Dhoni will play next series in October when New Zealand will play ODI series against India at the Sub- Continent. So he has enough time to recover.
