In the last few years, Virat Kohli has been compared with several cricketers for his unprecedented exploits on the cricket field. The India skipper has taken the world of cricket by storm with his scarcely-believable consistency. As expected, the comparisons followed as he was compared with some of the biggest legends of the game.
Well, the 29-year old has now been compared with yet another legend albeit he is not related to cricket. West Indies star Dwayne Bravo lavished praise on Kohli and equated him with legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo. Bravo revealed how he asked Kohli to talk to his younger brother Darren Bravo about batting. He then went on to call him Ronaldo of cricket.
“It’s (equation with Virat is) good. Virat actually played under-19 (cricket) with my younger brother Darren and I always tell my brother that Virat is a person he shall look up to. I am not saying that because I am here,” Bravo said.
“I actually asked Virat to talk to my brother personally about batting, about cricket. When I see Virat, I see Cristiano Ronaldo of cricket,” he added.
Bravo further said he admires playing against Kohli.
“For me as a cricket player to play against him and to watch him play when he represents India, even RCB, I admire the talent that he has. The passion he has for the game, for the sport when he plays. So hats off to him and he deserve all the achievement,” he said.
Kohli has been shattering records at will in the last couple of years. The reining ICC Player of the Year is already second in the list of highest centurions in ODIs. At just 29, he has scored a staggering 56 international tons. At present, he is the only player with 50-plus averages in all the formats of the game.
On the other hand, Ronaldo needs no introduction. The Portugal international plays for Spanish Club Real Madrid and is a winner of five-time Ballon d’Or.
