India international Suresh Raina, who is eyeing a comeback in India’s limited-overs squad was heard revealing an interesting story about captain cool MS Dhoni during an India-Pakistan match.
The southpaw threw light on an incident when Dhoni, who is otherwise very calm and quiet on the field asked Raina to sledge Pakistan’s batsman Umar Akmal.
“Once we were playing Pakistan and Umar Akmal was batting. He complained to Dhoni that I was abusing him. I just said that I did not abuse him. He (Dhoni) asked me what happened – I told him that I was trying to throw at Umar and asked him to score some runs to try and chase down the target,” the southpaw was heard saying on the Breakfast With Champions show.
In reply, Dhoni gave a small message to Raina and asked him to give more.
The 31-year-old Raina further added that Dhoni was not as cool as he appeared on television screens.
“There is no emotion in his eyes. Despite not wearing sunglasses, you cannot figure it out. We will be like ‘come on, man. show us some reaction’,” Raina stated.
“But he does get angry, you don’t see it. The cameras don’t pick it up. But as soon as the telecast cuts to the ads, he will say ‘Tu sudhar jaa (get your act together)’,” Raina further added.

However, after hearing Raina’s comments, Dhoni mentioned that he reacts according to the situation.
“The meaning of cool that we associate is calm and if not cool then an angry one. There are many zones in the middle of it where you enjoy and make fun. Once (I am playing) on the ground, I do not joke around, but inside the dressing room, I enjoy a lot. So, I conduct myself according to how I think I should conduct myself in different areas,” Dhoni stated.
