When MS Dhoni Bats, It Is Very Difficult For Bowlers, Says Ajinkya Rahane After Defeat Against Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings registered their third consecutive win in IPL 2019 as this time they defeated Ajinkya Rahane-led Rajasthan Royals in the final match of the week.
Asked to chase down 176, Rajasthan Royals had a poor start as Ajinkhya Raane was dismissed right on the second delivery with Deepak Chahar dismissing him.
Jos Buttler could just manage six runs while Sanju Samson also managed 8 runs, that saw the visitors go down right a the start.
Rahul Tripathi (39 off 24) and Steven Smith (28 off 30) did share 61 runs for the fourth wicket but never during their partnership, Rajasthan Royals were looking good to chase the target.
it was only after Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes did some quick work in the last overs that Rajasthan Royals looked like chasing down the total but the wicket of Stokes saw CSK dominate the match.
RR skipper Ajinkya Rahane was disappointed with the defeat and hailed MS Dhoni for his heroic knock.
“Very disappointed. We started off really well in the first ten overs, but what cost us were the last five overs. When MS bats it is very difficult for the bowlers. It was very hard for the bowlers to grip the ball after six overs, even the fast bowlers. But CSK bowled really well, they kept taking wickets. As a batting unit we need to take the responsibility for this. We win as a team and we lose as a team. If we win the smaller moments in T20s we will do will. We have played well in the last three games and hopefully with some luck we’ll be able to turn it around,” he said.
Earlier, MS Dhoni played a superb knock of 75* off 46 to steer Chennai Super Kings to a big score 175 on a pitch that seemed to be tough for batting at the start.
He came in when the home side was reeling at 27/3.
He first propelled the team with experienced Suresh Raina and later took on the charge when the former was dismissed.
Dhoni’s heroics tilted the advantage towards CSK and later, it proved to be a match-winning effort as well.
He got a big chance during his innings as right after he came out to bat, Dhoni edged one ball back on to the stumps.
It did make a contact with the stumps but the bails did not fall, that saw Dhoni continuing his innings.
He would have been dismissed on a score of 0 then but Dhoni survived early in the innings and played a match-winning knock.
With this win, Chennai Super Kings are now at the top spot in the points table with three wins in as many games.
The defending champions now face Mumbai Indians in an away game on Wednesday.
