It looks like Shane Warne was not only a master with the ball but also with the cards and is now helping others to learn the game of poker. Bollywood actress and former owner of Rajasthan Royals Shilpa Shetty Kundra has revealed that she likes to play poker and it was introduced to her by none other than the legendary leg-spinner.
“I’m a poker player but not like these pros of the game. I’m still learning the nuances of the sport. I was introduced to the sport by Shane Warne couple of years ago,” she said.
The actress further said that the popular game is a game of skills contrary to the perception that it’s gambling.
“I believe this is skill-based sport contrary to the belief that it has a lot to do with gambling.”
Shilpa was speaking during the launch of her husband Raj Kundra’s new venture- The Indian Poker League (IPL).
When asked if she will be participating in the league through any team, Shetty said: “I’m just a small fish in comparison to all these sharks who will participate in the league. So, I’m just going to take a back seat and watch the fun.”
The IPL will be a two-day event, which will be held in Mumbai in October. Raj Kundra was previously the co-owner of Rajasthan Royals where Shane Warne plied his trade and had led the team to the title in the inaugural season. However, Kundra’s association with the franchise came to an abrupt end after the Lodha Commission banned him from the Indian Premier League on corruption charges. The team was also handed a two-year suspension which ended earlier this year and will return to the league from next year.
