It was all brute power hitting from the Caribbean batsman Jason Mohammed and Ashley Nurse’s muscles smashing balls overs the ropes with his brute power. Jason Mohammed batted like never before and played an innings of his life; he was unbeaten on 91 runs facing only 58 balls. On the other hand, his partner in crime Ashley Nurse scored 34 runs in 15 deliveries. When Mohammed came into bat, the West indies required 128 runs 13 overs. Jason Mohammed didn’t give any respite to the bowlers, though Pakistan had a good bowling line-up to defend the total of 309 runs.
Pakistan openers were off to a very good start, their opening partnership added 85 runs in 15 overs to give Pakistan a good solid start. Ahmed Shehzad scored a steady fifty and his opening partner Kamran Akmal scored quick 47 to power Pakistan towards a big score. This opening partnership certainly puts Pakistan in control. Later, in mid overs, Shoaib Malik and Mohammed Hafeez took Pakistan close to a total of 300. They both added 89 runs in ten overs. Hafeez missed his a ton by 12 runs and Shoaib Malik scored a quickfire 53 to touch the mark. For the West Indies, only Jason Holder and Ashley Nurse were among the wickets.
For the West Indies, it was horror start when they lost Chadwick Walton inside first five overs, but soon after Kieron Powell, with Ewin Lewis took control of the situation and they look for building a partnership. they both together batted almost for 18 overs and added 68 runs which later proved crucial for West indies.
Then later Powell guided West indies nearer to the target with a 65-run stand with Shai Hope.
Powell did well enough with the bat, scoring 61 runs. After Powell departed, Jason Mohammed took matters in his hand and powered the West Indies to an emphatic win which will take them closer to the direct qualification for 2019 World Cup.
