WI vs BAN 2018: Andre Russell to Miss Series Decider against Bangladesh
The Windies all-rounder, Andre Russell is all set to miss third and final ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday, July 28th. Cricket West Indies while confirming this news said Russel is suffering a knee injury.
Since 2015, Andre Russell didn’t feature in the Windies One-Day squad. Also, he took one wicket and scored 13 runs in the first game on July 22.
However, the 30-year old missed the second ODI when Bangladesh lost the last-over thriller to the hosts. Russell was expected to be fit for the final and decider ODI between the two nations.
It took a little long for Andre Russell to heal his knee that will result in his absence from the series-decider.
Replacement of Andre Russell
Windies Cricket has requested for a replacement of Andre Russell. Sheldon Cottrell has been named as Russell’s replacement for the last ODI on Saturday in St. Kitts.
The three-match T20I series will commence on 31 July, with the two other matches on August 4 and August 5.
His return to competitive cricket
Earlier, Andre Russell missed a year’s cricket following doping violations in 2017-18. He returned to competitive cricket by featuring in Pakistan Super League. In PSL, Islamabad United retained Russel.
However, he missed the concluding matches of the tournament due to a hamstring injury.
The same injury reared its head during the 2018 IPL, but the Windies all-rounder waded his way through for Kolkata Knight Riders. He bowled short bowling spells apart from heavy strapping over the injured part.
