Wikipedia Declares Sourav Ganguly As BCCI President 1

The former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly has been declared as Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), president by BCCI’s Wikipedia Page which however has later been restored while still showing the name of sacked president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke.

On the other side, Wikipedia page history information seems edited by a fan of Ganguly. The page also showed BCCI’s head office in Kolkata in spite of Mumbai.

On January 19, the page was also modified when Ganguly’s name was updated on the BCCI’s Wikipedia age.

While filing this report, the BCCI’s Wikipedia page was last modified on 21 January 2017, at 10:09 AM. The list of administrators went missing in the afternoon on Saturday.

The names of office bearers were also removed from BCCI’s Wikipedia page after its official website for the further clarification.

Earlier, the Cricket Association Bengal President Ganguly has also been considered as one of the favourite contenders for the top post in Indian cricket governing body.

On January 20, the Supreme Court had also clarified that 9-year cumulative period will be given to office bearers of BCCI and state associations respectively which in total would be 18 years.

Lodha Panel has also made clear that Ganguly can contest the elections for the position in national cricket governing body. The verdict has also confused the members and cricket followers who can vacate and return to their positions in the BCCI.

After the 2013 Indian Premier League scandal surfaced, the apex body set-up the Lodha Committee in 2015, to prepare the report on overall governance of BCCI.

The Supreme Court is expected to announce the administrators on January 24.
