Afghanistan cricket is blossoming over the last few years and their cricket is taking new steps. The team has been playing fantastic cricket over the past three to four years as they earned plaudits from all the cricket pundits across the world.
The Afghanistan team is having a week to remember as they are very close to achieving test status as they are almost set to play all the biggest cricket playing nations in the longest format of the game.
The Afghan Cricket Board has sent a Memorandum of Understanding to Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) which was approved by the board which is set to open up numerous opportunities for the cricket growing nation.
ACB’s chief executive Shafiqullah Stanikzai has held talks with BCCI CEO, Rahul Johri at the Board’s headquarters in Mumbai and the talks have had some positives as BCCI have reportedly expressed their keenness to involve the Afghan players in IPL next season.
The BCCI have agreed to help Afghan players in the process of their development as the board is keen to let young Afghan players have more international exposure which could play a key role in their progress as they go along in their careers.
The Indian board has also expressed their interest in helping the game to grow in Afghanistan in every way possible as they are ready to offer training to Afghan coaches which could help the quality of cricket in the country.
The Afghanistan team have crossed many milestones as they have recently beaten West Indies in T20 World Cup 2016 who went on to win the World Cup. The team remained the only side to defeat the champions in the tournament.
BCCI are keen to up the progress of Afghanistan as the board is ready to offer Afghan players access to international standard cricket academies at Bangalore and MRF according to agreed understanding.
These decisions could help Afghan cricket go a long way as BCCI are backing them like no other board has helped any country in the history of the game so far. The BCCI have already provided various grounds for Afghanistan to play their games. Afghanistan are set to play against Bangladesh next week in Bangladesh.
