Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is a doubt for the second test at Eden gardens against New Zealand as the 30-year old has developed a corn on his middle finger.
However, Ashwin has managed to bowl with a corn on his finger and still managed to pick up major scalps in New Zealand during the second innings in the iconic 500th test at Kanpur.
But the 30-year old is suggested to not bowl ahead of the Kolkata test as it could rupture the injury making it difficult for the bowler to be fit on time for the second test match.
Ashwin has shown great temperament to bowl with a corn on his finger as he rattled through the Kiwi batting line up by picking up six wickets in the second innings of the match there by achieving yet another 10-wicket haul in his career.
The off-spinner has continued to bowl with his injured finger during the final day as he bowled an unbelievable 35.3 overs in the second innings. However, Indian medical staff are reportedly keen to keep the player rested ahead of the Kolkata test as he remains the pivotal bowler for Team India especially considering the fact that New Zealand are going to comeback stronger in the next match.
Ashwin has also achieved the 200 test wicket milestone as he became the fastest Asian adn second fastest ever to reach the milestone in the iconic match in which India won by 197 runs. He broke the record of Waqar Younis as he reached 200 wickets in just 37 tests when compared to Waqar’s 38.
India will hope that Ashwin gets fit in time as middle finger is the key for any spin bowler to make the best use of the conditions. Let us hope he would be ready for Kolkata test which is set to begin on 30th September.
