The Australian pacer of Indian origin, Gurinder Sandhu, who made his debut to international cricket against India in the Carlton Mid triangular series a month back, has said of the fact that he is looking forward to his debut to the Indian Premier League in April and he is equally excited to play with Zaheer Khan.
The pacer was purchased by Delhi Daredevils for a sum of Rs. 1.7 crores at the IPL auction that was held in Bengaluru on 16th February.
Sandhu said that Zaheer has been a great exponent of reverse swing and he will surely learn quite a few things from the veteran left arm pacer.
He also said that he would want to know what kind of homework does Zaheer do about the opposition batsmen. Sandhu said that Zaheer is a master in reading a batsman’s mind and it won’t be a bad idea to get to peek into his brain.
He also added that the greatest incentive in joining Delhi Daredevils is not money but the fact that he will get the chance to play with players like Yuvraj Singh and Zaheer Khan. He also said that he hasn’t yet played at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi but has prior experience of visiting India and he has trained under Glenn McGrath at the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai.
He also added that he couldn’t watch the auctions as he was playing a Sheffield Shield game for his state i.e. the New South Wales. He found it after a day’s play when his friends informed him of the fact that he was picked by the Delhi Daredevils franchise.
He also said of the fact that he has got congratulatory messages from his Australian teammates on getting an IPL contract.
He is now looking for a good start to his IPL career as he awaits to join his new team soon. He believes it will be a good platform for him to learn more.
