New Zealand’s recently concluded Test against Sri Lanka saw their star batsman Kane Williamson go past 1000 runs in Test cricket in a calendar year. Combining those to his ODI and T20 international runs this year, Williamson obtains the rare distinction of scoring over 2500 runs in a calendar year.
Williamson has had a successful 2015. He has been the run-machine for New Zealand as his 1000 run milestone includes 3 centuries and a single double century. The 25-year old is averaging 90.18 runs an innings, with the match against Sri Lanka just his seventh Test of the year.
In ODIs and T20s, his performance includes 3 ODI centuries in 2015 alone with 2 40-plus scores in 4 outings with the Kiwis.
He makes it into the tenth place for scoring the most number of runs in a calendar year along with batting greats like Jayasuriya, Ganguly, Dravid, Ponting and Tendulkar. Although he has entered this prestigious list, he could still climb a few spots as the year is yet to end with matches yet to be played. With 2524 runs in his purse until now, his next target would be of the great Sachin Tendulkar with a score of 2541.
