The Windies Cricket Board will announce a new coaching staff for the West Indies Women’s cricket team before the start of Sri Lanka series at home next month. The Windies are currently the T20 champions in both the men’s and women’s category. However, the women’s had a horrible outing in the recently concluded 50 overs World Cup, and as a result, the Windies cricket board had sacked the existing coaching staff.

Vasbert Drake and his team of Ezra Moseley and Stuart Williams were sacked by the West Indies cricket board for the poor outing in the World Cup. West Indies could only manage two wins in seven matches in the World Cup. Former West Indies A coach, Henderson Springer, has been appointed as an interim coach along with Gus Logie as his assistant coach.

The changes are being made keeping in mind the T20 World Cup next year which the West Indian will be defending at home. The World Cup will begin on 2nd November 2018.

A Cricket West Indies official said:

“The process will start with the search for a new head coach and an interim management team will be in place for the short term. The interim team will consist of Henderson Springer (head coach); Gus Logie (assistant coach); Ariane Mangar (Physiotherapist), Shayne Cooper (Sport and Conditioning Trainer) and Gary Belle (Analyst).”

He also added, “An 18-member squad will gather for a camp from September 25 to October 4 from which the final 13 will be selected for the three ODIs, three T20 series, scheduled for Trinidad and Tobago and Antigua.”
