Windies vs England 2019: 2nd ODI, Barbados, Weather Report, Where To Watch, Match Preview
Windies vs England 2019: 2nd ODI, Barbados, Weather Report, Where To Watch, Match Preview; After an incredible run-feast in the first ODI, both sides set to entertain yet again in Barbados. It was a thriller in the first ODI and most probably, it would be the repeat of the show with the batsmen of either team are in brilliant form.
The series kicked off in style with the visitors taking a 1-0 lead in what was a high-scoring thriller at Bridgetown, Barbados on Wednesday. West Indies, who batted first, scored a mammoth score of 360 runs thanks to a fine century by Chris Gayle. England who lost the Test series showed exactly why they are one of the favourites for this year’s World Cup
England batsmen are in a fine nick:
Jason Roy and Joe Root were the star performers in the opening ODI and produced stellar performances by smashing 123 and 102 runs respectively. These two, along with Jonny Barstow, looked in good touch in the series opener. They would like to repeat the performance yet again.
Ben Stokes had a good match on Wednesday. Picking up three wickets, he was partly responsible for the West Indies batting collapse towards the end of the innings. He was a constant presence in the team and Eoin Morgan showed his calmness under pressure.
Despite being whacked, England got the bowlers, to make a quick turnaround. They would hope the fast bowlers take a cue from Ben Stokes’ line and lengths to restrict the opposition and take a 2-0 lead at Barbados.
Windies hopes for a better show from bowlers:
Although England won the game on Wednesday, West Indies will take a lot of positives from the match. The hosts were excellent with the bat but would feel disappointed that they couldn’t score more. Wickets tumbled towards the end putting brakes on their run rate.
Another disappointing factor would be the bowling section of Windies. After posting a score of 360, they were definitely in the driving seat but lost a good opportunity to take a lead in the series. However, they would like to turn the tables.
Chris Gayle was at his destructive best in the first ODI and cracked a 135-run knock to bolster the home side to a dream start. But, unfortunately, the rest of the batsman couldn’t quite capitalise the start.
