According to Sachin Tendulkar , the decision of the ICC to reduce the number of teams to 10 for the next World Cup is a ” Backward Step” in terms of the effort made for the expansion of the game. He also added that it is unfair on the Associates to get so less games and not get much games against the main teams.

Sachin, on the other hand believes that the ICC should be thinking of having a World Cup consisting of 25 teams. Also, he said that the full members should arrange matches of their ‘A’ teams against the Associate nations to provide them oppurtunity.

Sachin added that as a cricketer, he wants to see the game expand globally and the decision to have just 10 teams for the next World Cup doesn’t go with this.

Earlier the Chief Executive of ICC, Dave Richardson, said that the World Cup is a premier tournament of Cricket and so it should be played between Top teams , who are evenly matched.

Tendulkar added that the minnows have always surprised top teams in the World Cup and if given a platform , could well become a good team in the coming years. Also, Sachin feels that the global fans for the game will increase only when the Associates improve their cricket and the game expands to more countries.
