Indian batting sensation Shubman Gill believes that it would be a fun thing to switch from white-ball cricket to red-ball cricket after having terrific IPL with the bat for the Gujarat Titans and said that he is excited to play the World Test Championship finals against Australia in one of his biggest matches in the longer format of the game.

The right-handed batsman is seen as the next big thing in Indian cricket, as he has shown the entire world about his batting capabilities this year as he has scored runs in all three formats of games for India along with a record double hundred in ODI Cricket, followed by a maiden century in T20 cricket and in his last test match he scored a century against Australia in favourite hunting ground in Ahmedabad.

Speaking on ICC.tv, the Indian opener said that he has good confidence coming into the highly anticipated World Test championship final after his exploits with Gujarat Titans and admitted that it is a completely different ball game and is excited to take up the challenge in England.

“It does give you a bit of confidence (from the IPL), but I feel this is a completely different scenario and a completely different game. But that’s fun about it. Last week we were playing something completely different with a different atmosphere and that is the challenge and that is what is exciting about Test cricket,” Shubman Gill said

The right-handed batsman scored 890 runs with the help of 3 centuries and 4 fifties. Shubman Gill has been the standout performer for the 2023 finalist Gujarat Titans in this edition of the IPL, as he helped his side to the second consecutive final in the cash-rich league.

Shubman Gill will play his second consecutive World Test Championship final, as he could not make it for the Men in Blue against New Zealand, as the youngster scored only 36 runs across both innings falling into the pace attack of the New Zealand team

Speaking about the experience of playing in England in 2021, Gill feels that the team have come a long way after the finals as the team have learnt from past experiences, and the team will look to do well in the final against the Aussies.

“We have been talking about some of the things we have learnt as a team and especially as a batting group from playing that match, Hopefully, we will be able to overcome the mistakes we made last time,” Shubman Gill concluded.

The young Indian Opener is expected to play a vital for the Men in Blue alongside skipper Rohit Sharma against Australia at the top of the order as the Indian team will be desperate to win the upcoming clash after losing against New Zealand in the first WTC Final a couple of years ago.
