Former Indian Stylish opener Murali Vijay hailed Indian youngster Shubman Gill as a superstar in Cricket, as he has done exceedingly well for the Indian team in all three formats of the game. The 23-year-old is expected to play a pivotal role for India in the World Test Championship finals against Australia.

Shubman Gill has been in terrific form, since the start of 2023, as he smashed two hundred and a double hundred in ODI Cricket, followed by his maiden century in the T20 Cricket against New Zealand and a century against Australia in the final game of the Border Gavaskar Trophy and continued his form in the IPL.

Speaking on Star Sports, Former Tamil Nadu opener Murali Vijay heaped praise on Shubman Gill for his discipline and shot selection in cricket and praised him as one of the most talented cricketers in the world, stating him as the “Superstar” of the game.

“T20 cricket is a completely different format. In Tests, discipline is the key, especially with the shot selection. Shubman Gill is one of the most talented cricketers coming up in Indian cricket and an absolute superstar in his own way,” Murali Vijay said.

The 23-year-old  is already touted to be the next big thing in Indian Cricket and the right-handed batsman scored 890 runs with the help of 3 centuries and 4 fifties. Shubman Gill has been the top performer for the 2023 finalist Gujarat Titans in this edition of the IPL. The Indian youngster has slammed 890 runs at an average of 59.33 and a strike rate of 157.80 and will look to continue his fine form going into the WTC final.

Cricketer-turned-commentator lauded Shubman Gill for his consistent performance for Gujarat Titans in the last couple of months and wants him to express himself in tough England conditions to give their side a good start in the WTC final alongside Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma.

“I’m pretty sure, the mindset he has and the form he has carried over the last couple of months has been outstanding. All he needs to do is take it easy and express himself fully in England and give India a great start,” Murali Vijay added.

Murali Vijay was a leading run-scorer in the 2014 Test tour of England. In his 61 Tests for India, Vijay scored 3982 runs averaging 38.29, including 12 centuries and 15 fifties. He also featured in 17 ODIs and nine T20Is for India, scoring only 339 and 169 runs respectively.
