Former England skipper Nasser Hussain feels that Virat Kohli will be an important player for the Indian team in the chase against Australia in the fourth innings of the Ultimate World Test Championship final. The former Indian skipper is known as a chase master, as he chased down some record totals in International Cricket.
The Indian batting maestro will look to contribute to the team’s success in the fourth innings of the game, as the Indian team will chase down to win the ICC trophy after 10 long years, the former Indian skipper looked at an exceptionally on the fourth day of the historic test in Kennington, Oval.
Speaking on ICC, Nasser Hussain believes that any team would like to have a player of Virat Kohli’s calibre to chase down any total in all three formats of the game, as he builds his innings at the right pace to chase down any big targets against the quality bowling attack in different conditions.

“If there is one player in world cricket that you want in a run chase in any format, it is obviously Virat Kohli, In run chases, in the history of the game, there is Virat Kohli, there is daylight and then there is the rest. He is always going to be the key man,” Nasser Hussain said.
Virat Kohli always backs himself in tough situations as he also possesses the skill to improvise when required, turning good deliveries into boundaries to chase down the total in all three formats of the game.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Nasser Hussain hailed Ajinkya Rahane as the ideal batter to bat in those kinds of situations, as the Indian veteran has done it for his team over a long period in overseas conditions including his brilliant knock in Lord’s 2014.

“I watched him in the 2014 Lord’s Test, on a green top, he got a brilliant hundred. I think he is absolutely the ideal cricketer to come in in a game like this,” Nasser Hussain asserted.
The 35-year-old made a comeback into the side after being dropped for his underwhelming performances for the Indian team in 2021-22. The Indian veteran batted beautifully in tough Oval conditions, to bat them out of trouble in 1st innings he was the highest run-getter for the Indian team in the 1st innings as he scored 89 runs, and will look to continue his fine form in 2nd innings to give them a chance in the chase.
