Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri feels that the energy of the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli rubs on to the other Indian players, especially in overseas conditions. The Indian batting maestro is known for his tremendous energy on the field, as he plays the games with a lot of aggression.
India will compete in their second straight World Test Championship final this time taking on Australia in search of their first ICC trophy since winning the Champions Trophy in 2013 under MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli is expected to play a pivotal role against Australia in England.
Speaking on Star Sports, Former Indian World Cup Winner Ravi Shastri said that the energy of Virat Kohli rubs off on other players and feels that it is important to keep up the intensity in the game throughout the match, as the opponents can come over them if the team loses intensity even an hour in the game.
“Virat Kohli’s energy rubs off on the other players as well. When you go out to play in foreign conditions, it is very important to have that intensity. You cannot show intensity for one hour and then go to sleep. The opposition will eat you up. He [Kohli] was the leader when it came to that,” Ravi Shastri replied to a fan’s questions.
The 34-year-old has been unstoppable since he recovered his form starting in Asia Cup 2022, In the BGT 2023, The former Indian skipper scored a Test century after almost a gap of three years and five months, with nearly after 1205 days and will look to put to his hand for all-important final against Australia.
A Choice Has To Be Made Between KS Bharat And Ishan Kishan – Ravi Shastri
Ravi Shastri too shared his opinion about the Indian Wicketkeeping conundrum for the World Test Championship final against Australia, as he feels the selection will be based on the team’s combination going into the Oval Conditions, as it depends on bowling combinations India opts to play against the Baggy Green.
“A choice has to be made between KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan. I have a feeling that India go depending on who is playing. If two spinners are playing, maybe KS Bharat. But if there are four seamers and one spinner playing, then it might go the other way,” Ravi Shastri’s opinion of Indian wicket-keeper.
Kishan earned his maiden Test call-up for the home series against Australia earlier this year but could not make his debut. With Pant out, KS Bharat kept the wickets but failed to impress with both bat and wicketkeeping gloves, it will interesting to see whether India continues with KS Bharat or go with debutant Ishan Kishan for the much-awaited final.
