West Indies all-rounder Yannic Cariah suffered a painful blow to his face during the West Indies training ahead of the Cricket World Cup Qualifier and has a broken nose as a result.

Cariah sustained the injury after being smacked in the face, necessitating quick medical attention. Despite the setback, Cariah will continue with the squad in Zimbabwe and will be evaluated further in the coming days.

The West Indies will miss Yannic Cariah, who showed encouraging form in the warm-up matches going up to the CWC Qualifier. In consecutive matches, he demonstrated his all-around ability by taking 4/46 against Scotland and 4/58 against the United Arab Emirates.

Cariah, who has nearly a decade of experience at the highest level in the Caribbean, has played eight One Day International matches since his debut against New Zealand in August of the previous year.

The West Indies Cricket Board released a statement regarding Cariah’s injury, expressing their concern and wishing him a speedy recovery. The team management emphasized their commitment to providing the necessary support to Cariah during his rehabilitation process.

Losing him from the pitch will surely hurt the West Indies’ efforts to qualify for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, which will be held in India later this year.

On June 18, the first day of the competition, the West Indies will face the United States to begin their CWC Qualifier trip. Then in Group A, they will have difficult games against Nepal, Zimbabwe, and the Netherlands.
