Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah has broken the record of Charlie Truner’s tally of 81 wickets in 13 matches. At the Lord’s Yasir has surpassed the record of Truner as he took 82 wickets in 13 matches against England.
Turner has taken 101 wickets in 17 matches for Australia.
Yasir has taken the wicket of Steven Finn that helped him to break the record. When Yasir was celebrating the wicket another great legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne was in the commentary box.
Yasir was banned for a year after the England series in Pakistan.
But the Australia tweaker doesn’t have any doubt over Yasir’s talent.
Yasir’s has brought back the beauty of leg spin in cricket that was vanquished since Shane Warne retired from the longest format of the game in 2007.
In the first Test, England has taken Mohammad Amir too seriously, but Yasir Shah broke the spine of the England batting attack. Amir bowled outstandingly but Pakistani fielders dropped many easy chances.
Yasir has taken six wickets conceding only 72 runs.
His victims are James Vince, Gary Ballance, Jonny Bairstow, Moen Ali and Steven Finn.
The diminutive spinner broke the spine of middle order picking up the wicket of three middle order batsman- Vince, Ballance, and Bairstow and lower middle order batsman Moeen Ali.
Pakistan batting first scored a modest total 339 runs and now got a lead of 67 runs.
In the first innings captain, Misbah-ul-Haq has scored a finely poised hundred.
However, Mohammad Amir made his Test return since he was sentenced for his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal.
Pakistan currently at the third position of ICC Test ranking and in the last series defeated England in the Gulf. But in the first Test tour in England since 2010 Pakistan have good chance to make a mark.
Yasir has broken a century-old record as Turner has made his record between 1887 and 1895. He as played only 17 Test matches as cricket was not a professional game and didn’t have money like today.
