Pakistan’s ace leg-spinner and who has done remarkably well in the traditional format, Yasir Shah has missed out on the ticket to London for the upcoming tour of England and Ireland after nursing a groin injury.

The 31-year old suffered a groin fracture last week. Shah did not attend fitness test conducted at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), in Lahore.

The others who missed out of the camp were spinning all-rounder Imad Wasim, and fast bowler Sohail Khan. It is reported that the two are injured as well along with Swabi-based Shah.

Shah’s injury means that the gates are now open for teenage sensation Shadab Khan. Shadab has impressed one and all in the limited overs format for Pakistan of late.

So much so, Shadab has kept Yasir Shah at the fringes while donning coloured clothing.

However, the promising bowler found it difficult to break into the whites for Pakistan.

After yet another successful season of Pakistan Super League (PSL), which witnessed cricketing action back at the iconic Karachi Stadium, many finds were included in the fitness test.

These include Under-19 sensation and the next big thing in Pakistan’s factory of left-arm swing bowlers, Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Apart from Afridi, the other members in the Test were Asif Ali, Hussain Talat, and Sahibzada Farhan, who all represented the champions Islamabad United (IU) in the recently culminated third edition.

Following the fitness tests, the selection committee of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will announce the squad for the away competition.

Unfairly, out of favour batsman, Fawad Alam is also in the list to participate in the camp. That said, his chances of being selected appears slim despite being a domestic success in Pakistan.
