Yograj Singh Denies Allegation Of Drug Abuse On His Son Yuvraj Singh

Akansha Sharma, Yuvraj Singh’s sister-in-law, created quite a buzz in the country when she accused the Indian batting star of taking drugs. Akansha was married to Yuvraj’s younger brother, Zoravwar Singh but now the couple lives separately. There were rumours all around that Akansha was miffed with Yuvraj’s family and she finally got the chance to express her frustration when she was given a platform in the form of Big Boss. However, she got eliminated from the show last Sunday. But she made sure to spill beans on the issue and sensationally accused the 2011 World Cup hero of smoking marijuana.

“As far as substance abuse goes, it was there in their family too. Whatever I did was with them. I smoked pot with my husband. Yuvraj also told me he smoked pot,” she said in an interview with entertainment news portal Bollywoodlife.

However, Yograj Singh, former Indian cricketer and Yuvraj’s father, has denied the allegations and called them ‘rubbish’.

As quoted in the Deccan Chronicle, he said:“What nonsense is she talking? It’s absolute rubbish.I’m a father of four children and none of them are drug addicts.

Calling his children innocent, Yograj added:“Yuvraj, as also my other three children, are like lions. They don’t eat grass…..The lady who is accusing Yuvraj should put her own house in order before alleging something.”

After the sensational revelations, there were speculations that it might hamper Yuvraj Singh’s chances of making a comeback to the Indian team. However, his father thinks otherwise and said: “These allegations will not hamper the chances of my son’s comeback — he’ll certainly come back and play for India!”

There are also speculations that Yuvraj’s lifestyle might have been a reason for his cancer. However, a Delhi-based doctor, Dr Anshuman Kumar, ruled out the possibilities and said that the disease was genetic.

A quoted in the news outlet, he said:“Yuvraj had a gonadal germ cell tumour situated between the two lungs, called mediastinum, but not in the lungs. It was gene-related cancer (it can be recalled that his father, Yograj Singh, also underwent cancer treatment) and cannot occur due to smoking.”

“I have met Yuvraj (post cancer treatment in the USA) in a social gathering in Delhi and never found him to be addicted to drugs”, he added.
