Kapil Dev’s recent remarks about Sachin Tendulkar not justifying his talent completely have not gone down too well within the Indian cricketing fraternity. After former cricketer Ajit Wadekar slammed Dev for his remarks, it is now former Indian pacer Yograj Singh’s turn to completely slam Dev.
Yograj said that Sachin was a great of the game and no one should dare to doubt his talent. Singh also went on to add that Dev could only care about his own records and was a selfish player.
“Kapil is an opportunist and he is jealous of Sachin Tendulkar’s popularity. He should have thought at least 100 times before saying it. This is totally a childish behaviour by him and no other cricketer will agree with him,” said Yograj Singh. The former Punjab pacer is known to speak his heart out in the media, and in the past has often lashed out against several Indian cricketers.
While commenting about Dev, Yograj said, “He never thought of anyone except himself. Neither had he ever made up his mind to do something for the game nor gave anyone chances to go ahead. That was still fine but this time Kapil has crossed the line after questioning Sachin’s ability. Did he ever think before talkingabout the man who has given everything to his country and cricket. And a man, who is worshipped as ‘God of cricket’.”
“Today Kapil is a closed chapter. No one likes to talk about a person like him and this is why, he is making such statement in media about Tendulkar, so that he can be in the headlines. Kapil is history and Sachin is present and future of Indian cricket,” Yograj added.
“If a player has made six double-centuries, then surely he can convert it into triple-century but Sachin was never selfish like Kapil. He had always thought of winning for team, scoring 300 just for cementing his name in record books was never his priority and I am not saying that Sachin did not have the ability to score 300,” said Yograj.
