Indian schoolboy cricketer died in Sri Lanka after drowning in a swimming pool at a hotel in Pamunugama. The 12-year old went to the island nation to take part in a cricket tournament.
According to Colombo Gazette, the youngster is believed to be from Gujarat. He was swimming in the pool along with three other players in Villa Palma hotel in Pamunugama but was soon drowned into it.
He was quickly taken to the near by hospital, but the police have revealed that he was drowned and died on admission to hospital. He was part of the 20 player brigade to take part in an Under 17 cricket tournament in the country, but his fate has ended elsewhere.
The Pamunugama police are looking for more evidence and are investigating the case on high priority, and the post mortem reports also revealed on Wednesday.
It is a tragic accident to take place and players should be more careful to ensure that these incidents do not often happen. It is a huge loss to his family, and our thoughts are with them.
On the other hand, there is an increased case of violence in the local street games which is costing a lot of lives over the past 12 months. We urge those people to stay calm as it is just a game at the end of the day and the lives are much more worthy.
