Preceding Pakistani skipper Younis Khan has mentioned that he is not willing to take over the designation of Pakistan Cricket Coach as he wants to secede from International Cricket in a refined manner. He believes that coaching is very intricate and as well as very responsible duty for the squad and right now he does not want to embrace himself with these responsibilities. “Coaching is real hard job in Pakistan cricket and I don’t want to get involved in anything which prevents me from retiring gracefully and with respect,” Younis said.

He began his international cricket career in 2000 and has played 89 Test matches with a strike rate of 51.38 and 253 ODI matches with an average of 31.88. Currently he is a key member of the Pakistan ODI squad. He remembered how he invariably has been treated very respectfully by his countrymen. “I have served Pakistan and I have received a great deal of respect and fame in return and I want to leave at the right time and on the right note with respect,” he said on this Wednesday.

Younis had been bestowed by the status of captain of the team in the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy following the suspension of Inzamam-Ul-Haq but he declined as he did not desire to be a surrogate one. Subsequently, in 2009 January he has been appointed as the permanent captain. After that he let his side win ICC World Cup Twenty20.  But he resigned in late 2010 along with his teammate Mohammad Yousuf as they were accused to get involved in match fixing during the series with New Zealand in the UAE.

Nevertheless, now Younis will not reject the offer to be the captain of the team, though he thinks that he never ran after captaincy. “It is all about your fate and luck. If God has willed that I will captain Pakistan again then there is no force that can prevent this. So I don’t want to make big statements about this issue which I regret later on.” He explained why.

He thinks that being a skipper of the team is a matter of prestige and he does not want to opinioned about what went on in the past and wants to leave it on his destiny.

Younis Khan is the third player of Pakistan Cricket who scored more than 300 runs in one in an innings after Hanif Muhammad and Inzamam-ul-Haq . He has called on from International Twenty20 cricket as he thinks that he is not fit for this format but at the same time he desires to go on his ODI career in international level. “I honestly believe I can still play one-day cricket and I am right in this format and whenever I get this opportunity I will be ready for it.” Said this 36 year old right-handed hitter.

Younis thinks that it will not be a subject of concern to him that the next World Cup will be played in Australia and New Zealand. His sole purpose is to give some good performances in the matches irrespective of the opponents.

In an interview he explained that his teammate and close friend Shahid Afridi should not change his playing in nature as it is his unique approach towards the game what makes him popular and respectable.
