Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is known for his social service through his foundation as he helped numerous people over the past few years.
The 35-year old has recently decided to fund the education of a girl named Zohra, five years old, whose father was killed by militants last month in Jammu and Kashmir. Her father, ASI Abdul Rashid was gunned by the militants while he was managing traffic in Anantnag on August 18 and the news has drawn a lot of attention from across the country.
Plenty of sympathies went to Zohra, who is just a little girl but lost her father at such tender age. Gambhir has then promised that he would bear all the expenses of her education.
The little girl then thanked the cricketer through media saying: ‘Thank you Gautam Sir. Me and my family are very happy with your gesture. I want to study and become a doctor.’
Replying to Zohra, Gambhir has said that she is just like his daughters Aazeen, Anaiza and advised her to live her dream to become a doctor. The kind gesture from Gambhir has earned a lot of plaudits from the people.
He tweeted: “Zohra beta, don’t thank me, u r lik my daughters Aazeen & Anaiza. Heard u wana b a doctor.Just spread ur wings n chase ur dreams.WE R THERE.”

This is not the first time that Gambhir did such excellent help. There are numerous instances where he helped the needy in the past. Earlier this year, he had promised to bear the educational costs of children of 25 CRPF jawans who were martyred in Chattisgarh.
He is one of the best celebrities who helped the needed, and we hope much more people come in support for the needy just like the Delhi batsman.
