Ritika Sajdeh, the wife of Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma, has hailed her husband as the strongest person she knows after he led Mumbai Indians to their third Indian Premier League title.
The India opener had endured a torrid six months on the sidelines with a thigh injury that he had sustained in the One-Day International series against New Zealand in October last year.
He underwent a successful surgery in London later and missed the Test series against England, Bangladesh and Australia respectively and also the limited-overs series against England.
But leaving behind the unfortunate injury setback, Rohit Sharma came back stronger than ever and led the Mumbai Indians to a record third Indian Premier League title. In the process, he also became the first player to win the title thrice as a captain. The right-handed batsman also performed decently with the bat, scoring 333 runs with the help of three half-centuries.
Ritika, meanwhile took to Instagram to congratulate her husband and his teammates after the successful IPL campaign.
“It’s not just because you captained your team to yet another IPL title but the fact that I’ve seen you go through possibly the hardest 6 months of your life and come out stronger, faster and more determined than ever,” she wrote in a post on Instagram.
“You’re the strongest person I know and I am so so so proud of you. Congratulations to you and all your boys on bringing the cup back home,” she added.
Rohit Sharma will now be hoping for a similar campaign when he joins Team India for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. The eight-team tournament will begin on June 1 in England while India will kick-start their title defence on June 4 against arch-rivals Pakistan.
