Former India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan has named his best XI of the IPL 2023 after the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the tournament after defeating the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 30.
Despite brilliant batting by Wriddhiman Saha and Sai Sudharsan, who made 96 and GT put up 214/4 in 20 overs; CSK got better of the GT bowlers when their innings was curtailed to 15 overs and the target revised to 171 runs.
Devon Conway led the charge with 47 runs, while cameos from Ruturaj Gaikwad (26), Ajinkya Rahane (27 in 13 balls), and Ambati Rayudu (19 off 8 balls) kept them in the game. Shivam Dube with 32* and Ravindra Jadeja hit a six and a four off the last two balls of the 15th over when 10 runs were needed to win the final and the title for Chennai Super Kings.
Conway was named the Player of the Final as MS Dhoni let Ambati Rayudu lift the IPL trophy, as the batter had announced his retirement from the game.
No MS Dhoni And Faf Du Plessis In Yusuf Pathan’s Best XI Of IPL 2023
After the match, multiple cricket experts shared their best XI of IPL 2023 and one of them was Yusuf Pathan.
He picked Shubman Gill of GT and Yashasvi Jaiswal of RR as openers of his XI. Shubman Gill finished the tournament with the Orange Cap for most runs with 890 of them in 17 matches. He hit 3 centuries as well with the highest score of 129 and hit two consecutive centuries as well.
Jaiswal, on the other hand, scored 625 runs in 14 matches. He hit one century and the fastest-ever IPL fifty in just 13 balls.
At no.3, he picked Virat Kohli who finished his IPL with over 600 runs and two centuries which came back-to-back. Suryakumar Yadav made 606 runs in 14 matches with one century with an astonishing strike rate of 181 and has been slotted at no.4.
Then Yusuf went for the hitting prowess of Rinku Singh, who made 474 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of over 149. Nicholas Pooran did the dirty job of hitting big shots for LSG, making 358 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 172.94.
Ravindra Jadeja picked 20 wickets in 16 matches for CSK and Rashid Khan took 27 in 17 for GT and will handle the spin attack. Mohammed Siraj with 19 wickets in 14 matches and Mohammad Shami with 28 wickets with the Purple Cap will head the pace attack.
Mohit Sharma with 27 wickets as well, will be the support bowler and Yusuf Pathan picked Matheesha Pathirana as the impact sub.
