Yuvi proud of India women's World Cup performance 1

Yuvraj Singh, veteran Indian cricketer in the men’s team took to twitter to congratulate the women’s team on reaching the final. Yuvraj Singh was the man behind India winning the 2011 World Cup.

Here is what he tweeted-

Yuvraj Singh, personally has won two WC’s, one T20 World Cup in 2007 and the major ODI World Cup in 2011 where he was adjudged the Man of the Series. Along with that, he has also won the U-19 cricket World Cup. However, it wasn’t easy for him, as he too was a part of the team losing in the final in the year 2003 to Australia.

India women lost the final against England at Lord’s but nothing can be taken away from them as they reached the final, as it took a mountain of effort from this young side to reach here.

Maybe they should have consulted Yuvraj Singh before the final. Jokes aside, India women played with all their heart and we should be proud of them. It will only make women’s cricket grow. We perhaps might not see Mithali Raj or Jhulan Goswami in the next World Cup, but this World Cup proved that the team is in right hands of the new youngsters.

England had been clinical in the tournament. They finished first in the group stage and after that nervous semi-final, they reached the final and played it like a champion side. Remember, India had beaten them in the group stage. Experience does matter in playing a high pressure final, and that’s what 3 time World Champions used to win their 4th World Cup.

Experience teaches a lot, and the day is not far when India women will lift their first World Cup. Rest, congratulations to England, they played well entire tournament and deserved to be champions. It’s a day when England women were better then India women.
