Yuvraj and Harbhajan Singh excluded at the last moment: Media Reports
According to media reports (Aaj Tak), it is believed that Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh had been excluded at the last moment from the list of 30 probables for the ICC World Cup 2015
As per reports from the news channel ‘Aaj Tak’, it is being said that a member of BCCI committee had earlier informed Yuvraj and Harbhajan to get themselves ready as their name in the list of 30 probables was almost sure. But at the end moment, it was the South Zone selectors who disapproved of their selection and it is also being said that the selection was mainly made as per to skipper MS Dhoni’s preferences to include youngsters who have shown promise in domestic circuit.
In all probability this news is incorrect but there is a solid reason and not just some media cooked conspiracy as to why Kedhar Jadhav and Sanju Samson deserved a place ahead of Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh in the squad.
Kedhar Jadhav was the highest run-scorer in the last season of Ranji Trophy (2013-14) with 1223 runs at an average of 87.35. Sanju Samson even scored 530 runs at an average of 58.88. On the other hand, Yuvraj Singh scored just 208 runs at an average of 26 and Harbhajan Singh took 22 wickets with the strike-rate of 47.8, well below par. This clearly shows that the decision had more to do with the players’ current form than their reputations from over the years.
So, clearly the selection of Kedhar Jadhav and Sanju Samson is justified contrary to what the media reports suggest that this is some sort of conspiracy to bench the senior players. It is quite clear that the media has once taken the masses for a ride with their bizarre allegations playing the blame game against the top reputed members in the selection committee including Indian captain M.S. Dhoni.
