Yuvraj Singh was India’s hero in the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup. He has a huge fan following in India and around the world.
However, currently, he is struggling to find a place in the Indian squad. He has been in the headlines off late because of exclusion from the Indian squad and his failure to clear the ‘Yo-Yo’ test.
However, this time he is in the news for receiving a doctorate in Philosophy Honoris Causa (PhD h.c.) by ITM University, Gwalior.

Yuvraj has been awarded the Doctorate for his,
“extraordinary sporting prowess and as a catalyst for change with great integrity and humility”.
Along with Yuvraj, the institute has also honoured the likes of Dr A.S. Kiran Kumar (Space) Govind Nihalani (Film), Dr Ashok Vajpayi (Poetry), Rajat Sharma (Media), Dr R.A. Mashelkar (Science & Technology and Aruna Roy (Social Work).

Receiving the award, Yuvraj said,
“I am honoured to have been awarded this doctorate. In a way, it gives me an additional responsibility of holding the honour with great integrity and continue to live by example in everything I do.”
Yuvraj was detected with a tumour in his lungs just after the triumph of 2011 World Cup. It cut short his World Cup success celebrations. Since then, Yuvraj has been struggling to cement his place in the Indian squad. He has been dropped out of the series against Sri Lanka.

Since his fight back from cancer, Yuvraj has set up a foundation to help cancer patients. His organization, “YouWeCan” has raised significant funds and has helped society as a whole. Yuvraj has also started a clothing brand “YouWeCan”. The earnings of this brand are used as charity to help cancer patients.
