Yuvraj Singh Reveals The Bowler Who Troubled Him During His Heydays
Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is the best middle-order batsman India has ever got. He very well knew how to handle the pressure after India lost their three main batters at the top. Also, his part-time bowling was more of an icing on the cake. But the cricketer revealed there was a bowler who gave him tough times in the field during his early stage of career.
The left-handed batsman proclaimed his retirement after he was not selected in the 2019 World Cup squad. When the Indian players were busy playing the tournament, he took the retirement in between the event which shocked the fans and every cricket lover.
Well, in his outstanding career, Sri Lanka player Muttiah Muralitharan troubled Yuvraj. The sixer king also said that in Test cricket he believed that Australian pacer McGrath was a dangerous bowler but he was lucky to not face him.
“I really struggled against (Muttiah) Muralitharan. Had no clue against him. Glenn (McGrath) would trouble me a lot with the away-going delivery. Luckily I didn’t play much against McGrath because in Test matches I was sitting out and cheering for the seniors,” Yuvraj told Sportstar.
Sachin Tendulkar solved the problem of Yuvraj Singh:
The World Cup-winning hero’s problem was solved after getting advice from the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. The Master Blaster advised Yuvraj to play sweep shots to tackle the world-class spinner.
“Sachin (Tendulkar) told me to start sweeping (against Muralitharan) and I was at ease,” he added.
Yuvraj Singh played crucial knocks in both the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup and 2011 ICC World Cup. He has played 304 ODIs and 58 T20Is to amass 8701 and 1177 runs respectively.
It is always hard for the team to fill the void left by veterans like Yuvraj. Such players handled the pressure situations with ease and led the team to the finishing point in style.
