There has been a spotlight on Yuvraj after his exclusion from the squad for Sri Lanka and Australia series. He was part of the Indian team during the ICC Champions Trophy.
Yuvraj made his comeback in the ODI team at the start of the year 2016 when he was included for ODI series against England. He had a good run in the series, which included an innings of 150 in the second ODI in Cuttack. He was placed in the side for the ICC Champions Trophy. He had a mixed run there but retained his place for the tour of West Indies. There, he was dropped from the side after just three ODIs and is yet to play a game.
There is a big question over him as Chief Selector MSK Prasad had said that Yuvraj was rested was Lanka series whereas he did not comment anything regarding his exclusion for Australia series, which has left a lot to answer.
However, with Duleep Trophy squads set to face a mass exodus, there can be a case when selectors look at Yuvraj to fill in a spot. Same can be the case with Gautam Gambhir as well, who is out of scheme at present.
He played his last international game in Rajkot when India and England took each other in the first Test of the series. He was dropped from the side when KL Rahul made a comeback and has now been replaced by Abhinav Mukund, as the third choice as an opener.
