Devdutt Padikkal Scores 3rd Fifty In 4 Matches As RCB Win Against Rajasthan

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) 20-year-old opener Devdutt Padikkal is already being referred as one of the biggest finds of the IPL 2020 season and is a future star in making.

The Karnataka-based batsman, smashed a fifty on his IPL debut versus Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) but failed to do much in the second match against a very strong Kings XI Punjab side but bounced back from there to hit his 2nd and 3rd IPL half-centuries in his team’s clash against Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals, respectively. RCB were defeated by KXIP by 97 runs.

In Saturday’s first-day game clash of IPL 2020 between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Devdutt Padikkal was in a sublime form again.

Chasing down a 155-run target set by Rajasthan Royals, Devdutt Padikkal scored 63 off 45 balls and stitched together a 99-run partnership for the 2nd wicket with his skipper Virat Kohli, to ensure that the RCB team doesn’t face many hiccups in their run-chase. He was dismissed finally only in the 16th over as RCB registered a comfortable 8-wicket over Steve Smith’s Men in Pink.

Yuvraj Singh Expresses Intention Of Batting With Devdutt Padikkal

Impressed by the performance of the youngster, legendary former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh took to Twitter to praise the southpaw. Yuvraj Singh mentioned that Devdutt Padikkal looks really good and expressed his intention of batting with him. In the tweet, Yuvraj Singh added that he would like to see who among the duo can hit the ball for a long six.

Devdutt Padikkal, who is having the time of his life, took 4-hours to react but his response had tremendous love and respect for left-handed southpaw Yuvraj Singh written all over it. Devdutt Padikkal said he wasn’t competing with the former RCB player, adding that he has learnt the flick shot from him.

Yuvraj Singh in the same tweet had praised Virat Kohli also. The RCB captain was going through a lean patch before the Rajasthan Royals match and had surprisingly hit only one boundary which came in the Super Over vs Mumbai Indians in his starting 3 IPL 2020 matches.

Virat Kohli’s 18 runs in first three games were his lowest in first three innings of an IPL season but the 31-year-old Indian skipper came down all guns blazing in Abu Dhabi on Saturday and roared back to form with an impressive 72 off 53 balls.

Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal will be next seen in action as RCB play against table-toppers Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals on Monday.
