Yuvraj Singh, Andrew Flintoff

In the cricket world, there are some matches or innings which will always be remembered. One of those will always be memorised in the Indian cricket, the match between India and England at Durban during the inaugural edition of T20I World Cup (2007). On September 19, 2007, the young batsman Yuvraj Singh hit 6 sixes in an over.

India was at 171/3 in 17 overs when Yuvraj Singh hit two boundaries on the ball of Andrew Flintoff. The bowler in aggression commented about Yuvraj’s batting style and that was the moment which lifted the player to hit sixes. It was the over of fast bowler Stuart Broad, Yuvraj hit 6 sixes and recorded the fastest T20I fifty in just 12 deliveries.

Everyone was curious what was the conversation between Yuvraj Singh and Andrew Flintoff which charged him. The batsman has recently revealed the conversation while talking to Star Sports.

“When you play for the country the emotions are always high. You can get angry too… Flintoff probably didn’t like the shots I played off his bowling in the previous over so he had a few words to say and that just motivated me,” said Yuvraj told Star Sports reflecting on the incident.

Then the sixer King answered him with his bat. The first one went over deep mid-wicket, the next over backward square leg, the third one over wide long-off, then over a deep point to a full toss, the fifth one over square leg and last with a massive hit over wide long-on.

Yuvraj scored 58 pff just sixteen deliveries, 3 fours and 7 sixes. India set the target of 219 runs and won the match. At the end of that tournament, India won that trophy after beating Pakistan in the thrilling final.
