Yuvraj Singh To Vault In Record Books, Set To Appear In 300th ODI 1

Indin cricketer Yuvraj Singh is all set to become the fifth Indian cricketer to enter 300-club as the moment he steps on the field against Bangladesh, Yuvraj will become a veteran of 300 ODI games. Incidentally, Yuvraj’s ODI debut came in the year 2000 in the same tournament and it is again the ‘Mini World Cup’ where Yuvraj is entering a list of all-time.

Yuvraj could have eclipsed this record a long time ago in 2013 but a slump in form saw him making few appearances in international cricket. Riding on a good show in Ranji Trophy 2016/17, Yuvraj was able to make a comeback in the ODI circuit for the home ODI series against England earlier this year, where he announced his arrival by plundering 150 runs in his second comeback ODI which came off just 127 balls at Cuttack. Along with that, he also shared 256 runs with MS Dhoni for the fourth wicket to help Indian team get to a score of 381.

Yuvraj Singh, the man of the tournament of 2011 World Cup, ironically was neither part of Champions Trophy 2013 squad nor part of the squad for 2015 World Cup, despite shining in Ranji Trophy just ahead of the selection of the squad for the World Championship.

Yuvraj though never lost hope and continued to fight hard in domestic cricket, which saw him making a comeback in the ODI team.

Since making his debut, Yuvraj has seen many turnarounds as despite succeeding in ODI format, he has never been regular in the longest format of the game and has only played 40 Tests. Now his chances of making comeback to longest format of the game are impossible, despite him doing good in Ranji Trophy.

Talking of T20 format, it is a fortress of Yuvraj Singh. He has been part of all the editions of T20 World Cup since the inception of the tournament, a record which MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma hold. Yuvraj is the only batsman in the world to smash six sixes in an over in shortest format of the game, which he smashed off Stuart Broad in the inaugural edition of T20 World Cup.

Yuvraj would hope to revel in his memorable game at the biggest stage i.e. semi-final.

Here is the list of most matches played for India by a cricketer:

Player ODIs
Sachin Tendulkar 463
Rahul Dravid 340
Mohammad Azharuddin 334
Sourav Ganguly 308
Yuvraj Singh 299*
