Yuvraj Singh, Wasim Akram To Participate In Bushfire Relief Match
India legend Yuvraj Singh and former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram have confirmed their participation in the bushfire relief match which takes place on February 8. Both the former players will be in playing roles and will represent one of the two teams. The iconic match, that features the legends of the game, will be played to raise funds for those affected in Australia.
One of the best white-ball cricketers to play for India, Yuvraj played 304 ODIs and 40 Tests. He also represented India in 58 T20Is T20Is. The 38-year-old was adjudged Player of the Tournament in the 2011 World Cup, where he performed a pivotal role in India’s title success.
Yuvraj also played a key role in India’s title victory in the inaugural season of T20 World Cup in 2007. He remains to be the only Indian player to hit six sixes in an international match.
Akram, the former Pakistan captain, is country’s highest wicket-taker in Tests and ODIs. The left-arm pacer scalped 414 wickets in Tests and finished with 502 wickets in white-ball cricket. He is now a full-time commentator and follows Pakistan team closely.
Apart from them, it has already been confirmed that Australia head coach Justin Langer, Shane Warne, Ricky Ponting and other legends will be back in action. Legends Sachin Tendulkar and Courtney Walsh will also be associated with the game, albeit, in coaching roles.
India women’s team and Australia women’s team will also lock horns on the day of the bushfire match. The final of Big Bash League 2019/20 also takes place on the same day. Cricket Australia will confirm the venue of the fund-raising match soon.
