The costliest player in this season’s IPL has failed to spark up the tournament but the team owners are backing him to come back strongly in the next season.
Yuvraj Singh, who has not been able to show the heights of his talent this season has already explained in public when asked about his price tag at the auction by saying that he never asked for the price and that the price at which he was bought is just a number and that it does not affect his performance.
However the CEO of the DD’s said that the market price of Yuvraj Singh determined at 16 crores is more than what they were planning to pay but the importance of having a match winner like Yuvi and the competition to sign him took the rate to that level. He explained that he would have wanted to pay less for the player explained that once the auction started, with other teams also bidding that they had to go all in for him.
Hemanth Dua the CEO also said that they are fully backing the veteran to be back to his best and that the repetition of the value at which he was bought this season always adds pressure on him as a human being. Yuvraj has only scored 205 runs at an average of around 18 in the 12 games he has played for the DD’s.
Dua when asked about the future plans of ageing players like Yuvi and Zaheer Khan said that it depends on if they are fit and that players like those deserve more chances to help their team.
