Yuvraj Singh’s each run costs Rs. 6.45 Lacs on an average in IPL 8
Yuvraj Singh’s barren run in the ongoing Indian Premier League has been a massive source of worry for him as well as his side, the Delhi Daredevils. In the 7 games so far, the southpaw just has 124 runs to his name. As per the calculations, Yuvraj Singh’s each run costs an eye popping Rs. 6.45 Lacs. As mind-boggling as it may sound, but the figures are indeed true.
The hero of the 2011 World Cup for India was in the headlines after the Delhi Daredevils’ owners shelled out a whopping Rs. 16 crores on acquiring his services. Singh’s premier role in the side is to bat and demolish the opposition bowlers. His bowling is undoubtedly an added plus, but the Daredevils have criminally underutilized his bowling, which makes it negligible. After taking into account the 124 runs and the amount of 16 crores and after doing the appropriate math, the figure comes out to Rs 6.45 Lacks/run.
The 33 year old has scored just one half century in this IPL and we are already at the midway stage. The elegant left hander would surely want to make amends and come out all guns blazing.
In the previous season of the IPL, the Royal Challengers Bangalore spent Rs 14 crores on Yuvraj. He justified that price tag to a certain extent as he was the second highest run getter for them and was also among the wickets. But this time around, it has just been a struggle for Singh.
This is what the stylish left hander had to say when asked about the significance of the exorbitant price tag, “Not really. I was sleeping when the auction was going on. And I didn’t tell anybody to give me that money. Whatever money would have given to me, I would have played IPL.”
All Indian cricket lovers do hope from the bottom of their hearts that Yuvraj Singh is back at his best and gets among the runs at the soonest.
