The sudden disappearance of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina has surprised many. Both were once a permanent member of limited members team, but at present, no one seems to close to selection in the Indian team, due to some options which Indian skipper Virat Kohli have.

First talking of Yuvraj, he was a member of Indian team till a few months back, but a poor form and fitness resulted in selectors dropping him from the side. Though MSK Prasad said that he was rested for Sri Lanka series, there was no talk him again after selection meeting for the first three ODIs against Australia.
Coming to Raina, he hasn’t played an ODI from around past two years. Though he played T20I series most England earlier this year, was not given a contract by the board. He has been appointed as the captain of India Blue in Duleep Trophy and selectors are looking towards him to make a comeback.

Still, there are doubts whether calling these two back would be taking a backward step but the Virender Sehwag, former Indian batsman, has said that the comeback of Yuvraj and Raina will benefit team India,
“If Raina and Yuvraj make a comeback, then it can benefit team India. Both of them have age by their side, they are fit players. If not 16, Yuvraj is touching 15 mark in yo-yo test and is fitter than me, so he can make a comeback in the team,” he told India TV.
At present, both the players are not in contention to be selected for last two ODIs and three T20Is against Australia.
The chances of a comeback in the series against New Zealand is slim, but they will surely be considered for selection if they perform well in Ranji Trophy on a consistent basis as Indian team is set to tour South Africa in the first month of next year and the experience of these two can come handy.
