Want to be a professional cricketer?
India’s white-ball specialist bowler Yuzvendra Chahal is yet to make debut in the Test cricket. He has shown eagerness to represent India in the most extended format of the game, saying that he would be happy to play even one Test if he gets the opportunity.
Yuzvendra Chahal made the debut for India in 2016 against Zimbabwe in ODI and T20I series. He instantly attained success and cemented his place in playing XI in the limited-overs formats. So far, the leg-spinner has represented India in 52 ODIs and 42 T20Is and scalped 91 and 55 wickets respectively. However, Chahal is waiting to grab the opportunity in Test format.
In the latest episode of ESPNcricinfo ‘One on One’ show, the 29-year-old Chahal showed his desire to be at least picked once in the Test squad. He said that he wants to experience the feeling of donning white jersey.
“If I get a chance to play even one Test for India, or even if I am picked in the Test squad, I will be very happy. That is a very different feeling.”
Yuzvendra Chahal is India’s second-highest wicket-taker in T20Is:
In T20I format, Chahal is the highest wicket-taker for Team India as a spinner and second overall after Jasprit Bumrah (59). Recently, he hasn’t got many chances in ODIs. Earlier this year, he played the ODI series against New Zealand after Kuldeep Yadav failed to perform.
Chahal, with his partner Kuldeep Yadav, was a regular feature for India until the World Cup 2019. The duo has not played together since the disheartening end of the mega event. This is so because the team management wants batting depth in the playing XI. So, either Chahal or Kuldeep gets the opportunity to play according to the conditions.
